Rhinoplasty

Nose surgery, known as rhinoplasty, is a surgical procedure performed to improve the appearance and/or function of the nose. It is one of the most common cosmetic surgeries and can address various concerns such as the size, shape, and proportion of the nose.

Rhinoplasty can be performed for different reasons. Some individuals seek to correct a large or disproportionate nose in relation to the rest of their face, while others want to change the shape of the nasal tip, smooth out a dorsal hump, or correct the position of the nostrils. In addition to aesthetic aspects, nose surgery can also address functional issues such as breathing difficulties due to a deviated septum or narrowing of the airways.

Tips & Info

Valuation Appointment

During the assessment appointment with the certified plastic surgeon, the patient’s expectations and goals are discussed, and the current nasal structure is evaluated. The doctor will also provide detailed information about the procedure, potential risks, and the expected recovery.

Procedure

Rhinoplasty is performed under local anesthesia with sedation or general anesthesia, depending on the case. During surgery, the surgeon will make incisions inside the nasal cavities (closed rhinoplasty) or at the base of the nose between the nostrils (open rhinoplasty). Through these incisions, the bones, cartilage, and soft tissues of the nose are reshaped to achieve the desired changes.

After surgery, it is common to experience swelling, bruising, and discomfort during the first few days. It is recommended to follow the surgeon’s instructions for postoperative care, such as the use of nasal dressings or splints and keeping the nose clean. Complete recovery may take several weeks, during which swelling and bruising will gradually subside.

It is important to note that rhinoplasty is a personalized procedure, and results may vary from person to person. Each case is unique, and the surgeon will work closely with the patient to achieve the desired changes, taking into account facial structure and individual characteristics.
